Difference between '97 & '01 kdx200

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm buying my wife a '97 kdx200 that's barely been ridden, and I was wondering if anyone knew what the differences were between the '97 and '01 models. Will it be competitive enough that I could borrow it for an occasional hare scrambles?
Thanks.

Well, I guess parts availability won't be a problem. She's 5'9" and 135lbs, so I guess she won't be on her tiptoes. Is the seat comfortable, or is it like a piece of wood? Are the footpegs wide enough?

except the rear shock spring will be too stiff for her. I would change that for her and you'll be good to go. Switch to a 4.6 kg- stock is a 5.0. Click on that MX Tech button on the left for help on the spring.

Foot pegs are nice and the seat foam is very plush. Like Fred said you'll likely want to address the rear spring rate to better balance the bike, improve handling and make it a more comfortable package for your wife.
