Lost in Desert, the Sequel

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The return trip to Johnson Valley by Falling Star and myself was to be without the huge problems encountered on last week’s trip there. Falling Star cancelled at the last minute, so I went alone. The area may be remote, however I get great cell phone and ham radio reception. Also I bring : tools; parts; first aid stuff; a .45; and a Winchester (a girl has to be careful). Two days of riding went great! Monday night sitting at my campfire I saw the Northern Lights for only the 2nd time in my life! Just after that was a good meteor. If you want some excellent desert riding try the “Rockpile” just North of Soggy Dry Lake. Not to be believed! Perhaps some of us should meet there. Great camping and about 100,000 acres of open desert (no requirement to stay on trails, just go where you want!).

Greatest riding to be had anywhere. My annual pilgrimage is only 56(!) short days away! Woo hoo! Hope to see some locals when we get there.

Pat, it was great to meet you there last year. We're only sorry that when we came by your camp site to meet Cindy as well that you guys were not there. Your truck was there but the bikes were gone so we figured that you guys were out on a ride. That tape we got off you is still floating around with all the dez racers.

Cindy, congrats on your finish for that race! Actually, you kicked some serious butt for not being on your own stompin' ground. You beat ten people.....eight of which were men! An absolute stellar performance! Sorry guys.....have to gloat when we can! I whimped out because I got too cold and didn't even finish.

Hopefully we'll see you all and a couple more DRNers at the January 13, 2002 Jackrabbits M/C Hare & Hound this year.
