2001 YZ250 For Sale or Trade

2001 YZ 250 in excellent condition. This bike is my dad's. He bought it the week before Dirtweek and has put approx. 20 hours on it since. The bike is bone stock except for Renthal bars. The stock Dunlops are still in excellent condition. The bike has been woods ridden by a 47 year old veteran rider. The way he rides, it probably hasn't been revved over 5000 rpm.
The ONLY thing wrong with the bike is a small crack in the right radiator shroud and one small dent in the pipe. He caught a sapling with the shroud at Dirtweek. Basically, he bought the bike because he sold his KTM and needed a ride for Dirtweek. He is wanting a Thumper now.
$3700 or trade for a YZ426F or WR426F
The bike is located in Paducah, KY.

I HAVE 98 HUSABERG FE501E . PRO TAPER BARS, TRIPLE CLAMPES,NEW TIRES
Posted by: Jay-R---------------------
Does the turkey bay sticker come with it? Thats worth $45.
When it dries out we need to go back to ride the Turkey!
Posted by: CAL---------------------
Hey Jay-R,
glad to see you on DRN. If you buy the bike, he'll throw in the sticker.
It will probably be wet again by the time I get to ride again. I blew the tranny in my DRZ sunday. Lost third gear. Now it's jammed in first gear.
Looks like it's gonna be about $400 to fix.:scream: It may be a while.

Sounds like a great deal, I am going to tell some of my buddies about your dad's bike. I think I am going to hold out for a four stroke myself. Possibly a KTM 400 or YZ250f. But it may be awhile. The CR still runs great. Just hard to dead pull a hill (maybe its the rider).
Since your not going to Arkansas this weekend you should come to the indoor MX races in Greenville Saturday, I know Aaron's racing but I don't know if I will or not (too old, fat, out of shape, and practice).

Sorry, no can do on the 250. Not enough grunt.
Posted by: jsmith811---------------------
Get a 280 kit for the little XR250, it will have enough grunt then, and they are ultra reliabe.
Posted by: CAL---------------------
400 or bigger.
It is a very sharp bike though.

CAL-I seem to know a guy who's looking to get rid of a DRZ400E!:D
Also-Did I meet your dad at DW?
Posted by: CAL---------------------
Ha! He's more interested in a 426. I'm not sure if you met him or not. I don't think so. He didn't mingle much. Just rode, then sat at the truck.
Jamie had mentioned trading. Is he not wanting a 250 anymore?
BTW-I have a guy interested in trading a 380 MXC for my DRZ. I really need to ride a 300 and 380 before I start getting my hopes up. I may not ever be able to get away from the fourstroke torque.:silly:
Posted by: biglou---------------------
If only we would have known, you could have ridden Al's 380. That thing is "Fat", "Thick", searching for adjectives to describe the powerband. Truly amazing. It starts out with a lot of torque on the bottom and when she opens up-Look Out!:scream:
I'll talk to Jamie tomorrow about your dad's YZ. I'm home feelin' a little sickly today. Sniffle, sniff.
Posted by: CAL---------------------
You sissy, get out and ride! Sweat that sickness off!:D
Hope you get to feeling better.

OK, he says he is ready to move this bike! I'm not sure on the price, but give him a call to take this bike off his hands. He's ready for a 426.
