Hi! I noticed a small seep of fork oil on my ktm. I went to make sure there was no dirt in the wiper or seal and noticed wear marks on the fork tube stretching down about 3 inches from seal. I never had a problem with leaks that a little cleaning would take care of and I don't think dirt is the culprit. Maybe a worn bushing? Anybody have same problem or any ideas on what caused the wear? Thanks.

Bulto,
I would imagine your just seeing the normal discoloration from use. Are these marks tanagable?
You might want to check for fork bind, that is causing the tubes to bind in use?
Regards,
Jer

Hi Jer. These marks resemble intermittent chatter marks. I can see the underlying plating(brass looking). I always pump forks after tightening axlenut. It seems a bushing would make these marks. They really don't seem deep enough to cause a leak. I guess I'll be the first to Know! I am particular about maintenance so I know it's not dirt. The bike is well maintained and I never had leaky seals, lucky I guess, and it sees it's share of mud and dust! I'm going to send them out for a revalve and have those plastic bottoming cones updated. I will certainly consider you as I've good things you do for Pa. rock riding! Thanks for your prompt response. You are a true enthusiast like many of us helpless addicts!

I had the same thing on my '43's. Buffed it with Crocus cloth and it never leaked again.

Thanks Smilinicon, I guess it's just wear and tear. If it doesn't leak I won't sweat it! Thanks for your reply.
