Whats your favorite energy food and or drink?? tell me what you think. It doesnt have to be a real energy drink or food just somthing you liek to eat b4 rides.

I like Red Bull (the drink :D ) and the Power Bar Harvest bars or Clif Bars are my favorite. MetRX bars are OK but taste too much like Phenolphaline (sp?) sometimes.

I have found that I can't eat or drink anything for several hours before I ride hard. I have to just load up on carbs and water the night before.

I have the same exact probkem as JMD has. I have found that I can get scrabled egg's down fine with a soda and water. Otherwise I can't eat at all. What do you eat the night before? my diet consist's of milky way bars and dinner hehe

I try to eat something with lots of carbs, like spaghetti or fettucini Alfredo (which I make--delicious!) I'll even have a late-night snack before bed, and I'm okay but I can't eat anything at all in the morning, or I have problems with gas, and it seems to reduce my wind. I'd be interested in some kind of energy food or drink, but I have high blood sugar and can't have anything with lots of sugar.

I make my buddies sick before our cross country races! For an afternoon race: McD’s Sausage Biscuits for breakfast, Two sandwiches (1 ham, 1 PBJ), a powerbar or two, and a ton of water. If I don’t eat I’ll bonk at the 1 hour mark and my stomach will growl louder than wasted brake pads on a solid rotor!

I had my best finish ever in a mountain bike race on a breakfast of two McD's breakfast burritos and a Coke. Took 11th in the Mississippi State Games Beginner class. Go figure...

Pat,
I agree on the Phenolphthalein... I can't choke down two bites of one of those things. No real pre-race diet, during the race I eat roost and afterwards a healthy serving of crow.

I dont drink soda or candy cuz i get all tired (and cuz its bad 4 you)
so i drink my red bull or if i dont got one a fresh cup of green tea gets me goin

My favorite pre ride drink is a bunch of water. I probably drink about 20 glasses a day. I like to be hydrated. Sometimes the day before I ride I might hit something healthy and full of carbs, but on the day I'm riding a nice light sandwhich is where I usually turn. I'm souding like a healthy eater here but I did pound down a Jack in the Box ultimate cheeseburger for lunch today and went looking for more food.

Rodzilla, LOL. Sometimes the gas is an added boost on a long straight.
