The 2 predictable things are the Powervalve can seize & strip if not pulled out & cleaned, say every year. & put the bike on a milk-crate & see how much up down movement the rearwheel/swingarm has. Any more than half an inch means one or more of the linkage bearings need replacing. This goes on any dirt bike but the K ones are pretty expensive.
Do a search using the key above on both subjects & you will learn enough to get you through.
Have fun. Not many people regret buying one.

My buddy's bike is currently in my garage. I tinker with it from time to time, an 87 KDX200.
A noisy engine typical of an air cooled motor. check lower linkage bearings and bushings. check the handlebar mount bushings. They are made of rubber and are probably wasted if they are the originals. The round throttle slide sticks at times. The power valve cover screws like to strip out. Check the subframe area. It's one piece welded design is non removable and strong, Which is tough to straighten and could indicate hard crash if bent or mis-aligned.
other than the above - A tank of a bike
good luck

Listen to another KDX running before you go, the engine may sound like someone has left a nut rattling around inside the cylinder at tickover. This is normal for a KDX ! Worn linkage and swinging arm bearings are expensive but pivot works make a reasonably priced replacement. Best advice is take a friend who knows what to look for on MX bikes, that way you will know what you are letting yourself in for and can haggle accordingly.
