Im trying to change my fork oil for this weekend. And when I drained the oil 9 oz. came out of each fork . Is this the correct amount for a 2001 cr 125 ? Id actually like my forks to be more stiff should I add more oil ? The oil color was a dark gray light black thin oil. Im going to be putting in Synthetic ATF from mobil1

Its easier to measure the airgap than volumes. You should try the std airgap with the atf first(60mm i think) then try increasing it 10mm if its still bottoming.

How do you measure air gaps ? I was measuring the fluid from the top of the fork to the line of the oil. That is with the fork all the way out. Isnt that the correct way to do it ? I came up with 21" All my measuring tools are inches and CM's I dont have anything to measure mm's. I thank you for your help Marcus.

On Jeremy's site it says for my bike it should have
Oil amount : 70
When he says 70 ...70 what ? inches ,feet, miles ??

The fork leg should be collapsed,To measure the airgap you fill the forks to the top then bleed the centre damper rod until it has a even resistance all the way through the stroke(it takes about 10 strokes)then refill to the top if necessary. To set the air gap get a old washing up liquid bottle thats been cleaned and attach a length of tube to it.Then measure 6cm(or 7cm from jers site)from the top of the tube and make a mark.Put the tube into the fork down level with the mark and suck out the oil.Basically what im trying to say is the fluid level(or airgap) should be 6 cm below the top of the fork when its collapsed.Hope i have explained it o.k-Marcus.
