Help me with tires!

I ride the southern Calif. desert on a KX 500 and race hare and hounds. It's time for new rubber, I have chosen my rear meat a Dunlop D739 A/T. I need some help with front tire selection, Dunlop only makes the D739 in a four stroke front. Anybody know what the big boys run on their bikes in the desert?
