Can the suspension of a 2002 KTM 125 be lowered? All I need is 2 inches, I am not going to grow anymore as I am 36 years old.

I sent the forks & shock off my 2000 RM 125 to a suspension shop and they told me they were not able to shorten the travel of the shock, something about the spacer's they would put in would cover up a valve that releases pressure when the shock bottoms out.
Anyone know if this sounds right? or should I be looking elsewhere for suspension work?
Any thoughts or idea's would be helpful. thankyou.
