rumor has it that the valve stack in the 01 cr 125 is very stiff.( more for supercross than outdoors) several months ago there was a thread telling how to fix the forks by removing or adding a so called crossover valve. Well I searched the DRN archives but couldnt find a thing about this mystery crossover valve, could someone please fill me in on this. thankyou.

Seems to me you have remembered a certain amount but have got confused.
The 2001 Cr comes with a shim stack that sits ontop of the bleed circuit-this restricts the bleed off of fluid that doesnt pass through the main shim stack. To remove theis bleed shim stack you need to get the base valve out and you will see the stack that sits directly ontop of the aluminuim body.I has only about 5 shims where as the main shim stack has about 20.When you remove this bleed shim stack you will need to fit some washers to keep the piston at the same height as it was before.
The part you are mixing up is a crossover shim-this is a small shim that can be inserted in the low speed compression part of the main stack to allow the 1st group of shims to bend over the small one just fitted, so giving a plusher ride. If you had someone with a base valve in front of you its soo much easier to understand than me describeing it.
I will try to do a drawing of a shim stack with a cross over
LSC shim -----------
LSC shim -----------
LSC shim -----------
COS.............-----......This one is the crossover (or bendover)
HSC..........----------- HSC shim -the top 3 will hit this one on hard hits
HSC.............------- bringing the next shims into play which are HSC
HSC..............-----
Clamping.... --- This is what the whole stack tries to bend against
ignore the stops they are just there to stop the DRN software removing the gaps.
HSC means high speed compression-thats fork movement speed not bike speed.
LSC means low speed compression as in low speed fork movements like when riding over big undulations.

So removing the bleed shim stack will give the forks a much more plush feel. Once i,ve removed this and added spacers should I go with 2.5wt oil or stick with 5wt? I also got .39 springs, As for the shock I got a 4.4 Hopefully this will all balance out well and work well for a 125 lb rider. Thanks again.

Yep removing the bleed shims will make a nice difference-please try the 2.5wt and report back to us how it works as alot of people dont like the idea of using 2.5wt in the forks but i think it has its merits
