I'm sure you've heard this before but have you read the manual and learned the proper procedure?

Ok with that being said let me give you some serious advice. These motors take a long time to break in. The longer you keep and ride them the easier the starting becomes. It happened with my 98 400 and happened to everyone in my club that has bought one. The engine is really tight and just needs a ton of saddle time to break in. A friend is going through it right now with his 250 it was a pain in the arse in October to start. He's ridden it everyweekend and now it starts like a dream. Just thought you'd like to hear it from someone else with the same experiences.

He's correct Maybe you should wait

guys appreciate the well intended encouragement....but I've tried everything & the starting deal is unacceptable....my blood pressure wouldn't survive waiting for this thing to break in...I buy bikes to ride em not kick my *** off or work on em & get all stressed out over....I've owned several thumpers thruout the years & nothing comes close to this.....god bless all those 1-2 kick wonder boys who've never experienced the fabled YZF starting fit.....all I ask is one of them come take this thing off my hands & bring cash....

Posted by: CanadianRidr---------------------

LOL well I guess you tried, BUT You can gladly send me the bike and I will break it in for you. And NO CHARGE

Don't worry when I send that puppy back it will start like a dream

I got ine back from Big Gun a few weeks ago. Let me start by saying that I have yet had to kick it more than 3 times to get it started, hot or cold.

Now for the rest; it started out as a simple Big Gun project, a bottom end rebuild and little head work. Then came the possibility for a mag article. My engine now is a Brandes replica. Big Gun even powder coated the frame baby blue. They Race Tech do the suspension and threw on a few other goodies.

But it all comes down to the engine. Wow. Russ Fletcher put his own reground variable timing cams in, larger valves, and a Wiseco 12.5 piston. Not to mention an approximately 100 hrs or so on the headwork. This bike will pull a 2002 250f by over five bike lengths down the Glen HElen start straight, and believe it or not, holds it own on a combined pro class start against 426's and 450's.

Everything that was done to the bike can be bought through Big Gun, and the Dirt Rider article should be out next month. Now time for the sad news, it's time for a new project and I need to sell the bike. Send me a PM if your interested. Between myself and Big Gun, we have some serious time and money into this bike, and I'm willing to make a deal for a good home. It has about 2 hrs on it as of now.

really guys.....this was intended to be a FOR SALE ad.....not to hear how you start your YZF so easily.... or for someone else too pimp their big gun bike......

I'm in a very crappy situation having just spent well over 5000+ on a brand new dirt bike that I'd like to throw in the trash compactor....so please let's just find a new home for this awesome YZF....
