We are considering going to Attica, IN this spring, anyone have opinions on this place ? Do they have sand dunes ? Is it worth a 4 hour drive ?

We travel 2.5 hours from Chicago 2 or 3 times a year to ride there. Lots of sand, lots of dunes, lots of short steep hills and lots and lots of 4 wheelers. 90% ***s 10% bikes. The place would be fun for a day maybe a day and a half. We ride at land between the lakes in Kentuky and like that alot, because we like hill climbing. Bottomline: Badlands is worth a four hour ride if you have ridden everywhere within a 4 hour radius.

I hear Little Egypt is fun and it is less than an hour north of Paduca. We are always looking for places to ride, do you know of any good ones in KY?

regards,
Don Bushby (aka WoodChuck)

Exit 49 Off I-75 is the best place we have close to London, Ky, about 25-35 miles of trails, anything from beginner to advanced, a little of everything including hill climbing.

So where is "Little Eygpt" exactly and does it have sand & jumps ?

YES!! they have sand dunes. it's an old sand/gravel pit along the wabash river. pretty much sand and pea gravel all over the place. a couple of BIG bowls that you can ride down into and up the other sides....some small (100 ft or so) dunes like stuff, some jumping that you can do, some washboards, and like woodchuck said, LOTS of 4 wheelers to dodge. I've been thinkin about getting a paddle tire to try out there. I dont know if i'd say it's worth a 4 hour drive though, but for me....and hours drive and something different than woods and cornfields is a welcome change now and then.

Little egypt is 5 miles east of Marion Il off I57. It is off of Baxter road, just stop and ask a local when you get to Marion. It is also an old strip mine, for coal not sand. It has no sand and no long tall hills, alot of very tight track and short steep hills with no other side, it is heavily wooded and has a awesome cedar forest section that is just perfect for traction. If it is muddy I think it would be nasty in spots(especially at the bottom of the hills because they all go right back up. You can get the info off of the Illinois DNR website for OHV.
Attica is not worth a 1 and half hour ride if you ask me. The only time we go there is early in the spring or late fall when everwhere else is swampped it usually is not to bad because all the sand. Turkey Bay is cool and very big.

I forgot to say there is another spot close to Little egypt ,20 - 30 miles, it is also on the Illinois DNR OHV website.

It will take more like 5-6 hours to get there from London, KY if you take I-75 to I-64 to I-65. I have never been there but from what I have heard it wouldn't be woth the drive. I would say you have the best place around very close to you so why leave.
