DRZ 440 rev limiter

A friend of mine just bought a 00' DRZ 400 with a Thumper Racing 440 kit and a Yoshimura pipe. It hits the rev limiter a little easy for me. We were wondering if we could clip a wire like on the Yamaha 426 and if we could what would be the consequences?

Thanks, Kurt yz 250: :D

No wire to clip but Yoshimura sells a rev kit.It adds 1,200 rpm to the current rev limiter(from 10,000 up to 11,200).It's on their website.

Don't change the rev limiter without the CAM kit. The Yosh kit includes Ti valve keepers, cam, and valve springs. It takes all this to prevent valvetrain problems at the higher revs.

Go with the Yosh kit and get all the upgrade parts. I'm 99% sure the valvetrain will be destroyed if you try another route. :scream:

Thanks everyone for the info., does anyone know what happens to the powerband when the cam and valves etc. are installed?
