riding pants for a tall rider

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have a riding buddy that is 6'3", 230# and claims that the riding pants that he tries on are all too short. They come up around his calves and aren't comfortable. He called me the other day and said he is thinking about getting some baggy fit pants (free style). I jokingly told him that I wouldn't ride with him any more if wore those. We race a few hare scrambles a year and do a lot of trail riding. I think the baggy pants would catch a lot of snags in the Illinois woods. He's wearing blue jeans while riding these days and that can't be too comfortable in a 2 hour harescramble. Any suggestions??

Thanks,
Neal

I am 6'7",and wear Answer Edge pants. They fit just fine.I have worn other brands and have had good luck with them all.My inseam is 35".Your friend needs to try a few brands and pick the one that feels best.I do think that Fox tends to run a bit small, though.

I am slightly shorter than BIGFOOT (6'5") and I also wear the Answer pants. They are comfortable and do not pull out of my boots. FYI. I did buy a pair an extra size bigger. I do not like wearing riding pants that are too tight. Maybe it is just me.

I always buy a size bigger, too.I like the baggier legs, and allows me to adjust the waist according to my ever changing girth.

MSR System X (though I wish the waist were more "expandable") and Moose M1. Plenty long enough for me (36" inseam) and quite comfy.

I wouldn't get the baggies. If "normal" MX pants are short in the legs, how silly is it going to look when your baggies make you look like Urkel?

Good one XR I was going to direct him to this thread so he could get some good info, but I think it would be more fun to let him buy the baggies so I could harrass him by calling him Urkel all of the time.

I have a 38" inseam and wear MSR System X pants. They are the first pants that I've worn that did not pull out of my boots.

The only pants I'll wear are Moose XCR's - I'm 6'4"/250 and they fit great. Also fit over my CTI2 w/o a problem.

Nobody's mentioned Sinisalo pants yet so I'll might as well. I'm 6'5 with a 34" inseam and they fit great. They're looser in the legs than the Moose M1s I tried on.

Can anyone tell me if the fit is the same for the Moose M1 and XCR lines? I heard somewhere that the XCRs are made by Sinisalo, which makes me wonder if the Moose XCR pants are more like the Sinisalo SCD pants than the Moose M1 pants.

My fiancé is 6'4", 215 lbs., and wears a 38 in Thor Core 4's. They come all the way down to his ankle/foot. I kinda wonder how they would fit someone that was shorter and wore a size 38 :think

He loves the Core 4's and thinks they are very comfortable. He also wears knee braces and the pants fit nicely over the braces.

I agree with Bigfoot that Fox pants do seem to run shorter than most other brands.

And sisnisalo will make custom sizes for no extra charge.
I have two pairs of custom pants from them that I love and covet.
Go to their website and ask email them.
Send them your dimensions and 4-6 wks later you will be wearing a perfect fitting pair of pants.
End of story...
