Flushing forks

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

i'm about to change the fork seals on my YZF and was wodering if it would be a good idea to flush the forks. I was thinking of pouring a small amount of metho into the forks before opening, to dilute the fork oil. After shaking and pumping the forks up and down a few times, would it not clean the system to a degree? What's the SOP?

If your changing seals you will have the fork almost completely apart anyways, just take it down the rest of the way and clean it thoroughly. It is always best to disassemble to clean, as "flushing" often leaves debris adn residue behind.

Debri gets caught in the pistons & valving and should be dissasembled & cleaned everytime you service.
