Shrouds on bike...are the nessacery?

My 96 didnt have them on, and they are 500.00 not including the mounting hardware....I see that with the IMS tank, they arent needed..
So can i run the bike without them?

The shrouds you see on bikes are there to protect the radiators. If I'm thinking correctly of your bike, then they would only be cosmetic on your bike.

500 bucks!!! Wow for what bike? I thought the most shrouds could be were about 75 bucks Canadian!
Did you go to mxsouth.com and get the prices from there?
If we are taking rad covers' UFO has them for 88 bucks ??

they do direct more air towards the fins on the 650L's, but that's only an issue if you're putting around. For on road use I don't see them being necessary, as the windflow would be enough to cool the engine, but for offroad it's possible that your bike could run hot without them.

Thanks guys.......I read when a larger tank is used, that the shrouds arent used...is that correct?
I cant find aftermarket shrounds anywhere....I just got another email from another dealer, who can get them to me for little over 350.00.......
if they arent needed, screw it!
