has anyone tried one is it worth the money

I just purchased one for my 01 200. I have not installed it yet, but everyone I spoke to said that they worked well to resolve fork flex.
The question is, do you want to reduce your fork flex?
If you are like me, 50% light MX and 50% trails, then reducing fork flex for jumping is a good thing (I like to land front wheel first). I you ride all single trail stuff, reducing fork flex may be a bad thing as you feel more bumps.
I am about to revalve with MX Tech and Jer mentioned to me that the Summers Fork Brace did an excellent job of reducing unwanted fork flex.
Hope this helps!

the biggest problem i had was keeping the bike going in a straight line going thru the beach sections at roselawn.i could actually feel the front end flex thru that sugar sand.i talked w/fredette about a kx125 conversion.im also considering changing the whole front end.

Very worth the money, I have one on both bikes and I ride 90% single track. It seems to make it steer better. As far as feeling the bumps more, I don't think so. My front ends are heavily modified and I run a WER. I would not run the brace without a dampner, though. They definatly reduce the flex which I think is good. I just can't say enough good things about them, then again, I am riding a dinosaur!

thorman75 - Whenever I'd pre-ride the "beach" in Miller's (the 20-mile section at Roselawn) I found it best to get my weight far back and pin the throttle. Bsically I was almost sitting on the back fender and used the pegs to steer. In that sugar sand, keeping the throttle pinned was the only way to keep from overheating.

i realize that, ive rode in sand many, many times.(big guys hate sand).but i couldnt get the bike to go straight.2 years ago on the kx500 no problem, weight back and pin it,but ajs kdx was all over the place, the front end all it did was plow and try to bury itself.maybe i didnt have enough sag or the fork springs were too soft.ive got a 6kg rear and .46kg fork springs coming for the new bike.i had a 6.4 and .46's in ajs bike.the only place ill have trouble is roselawn, hope it rains.i had a summers brace on my xr600,i really couldnt tell you if it worked or not, that bike was a tank.for me it didnt seem to work anywhere.ive got .50kg springs in the af front end maybe i outta try that front end on the kdx:confused:

Thorman, in an earlier post in this thread you mentioned
"i talked w/fredette about a kx125 conversion.im also considering changing the whole front end."
FYI, Pro Circuit is having a garage sale on forks right now. They have a wide selection of USD forks for $495- set up for your preferences.

where do you buy the fork brace? how much do they normally run, and any photos of it? how could you run a fork brace when you have fork boots?
If it's what i think it is,, isnt it a strip of metal that connects the left and right fork just above the tire?
Posted by: thorman75---------------------
its a piece of billet alum attaching to the legs just above tire.fork boots must be removed and regular wipers installed.they come w/the brace.retail from summers racing is 279.00 for the kdx.

Do you have a website for the company/product? Also, do you know if they'll fit an older (really old) bike. In addition to my '02 220, I have an '82 KDX 175.
Also, how hard is it to convert to USD forks? For $495, it may be worth looking into. Are there any drawbacks to changing over to USD forks?
