What are y'all doing? Just curious who will be where and what my options are. I'm thinking track riding instead of trails might be better for my first weekend back, but my options are open. Just a warning: I will be SLOW. Have to be careful for a while yet.
Posted by: Hondaxrguy---------------------
I'll defenatly want to go riding. I don't think I have a race that weekend. It'd be nice to get a group together for a ride. I'm defenatly up for it. You may want to talk to Jayme about going out to the Coolies. It's a good place to take it easy, and they were planning on doing a lot of work to the track on monday. It was VERY chewed up sunday.

Mmm, I'm not a fan of Coolies. It's kinda hacked up. I was hoping someone might go to Belfair or something on Saturday.
Posted by: MXP1MP---------------------
I'm going to be at the AX race at puyallup on sunday. FC why not come and race the women's class. That class is laid back no pressure in that class to do the jumps just another option but if you do your gonna have to pay the race fee's. gate fee $8 class fee $25 cmc one day temp card $10.
Posted by: firecracker22---------------------
No, I'm not racing. I hate arenacross anyway--one race at Clark County last year soured me on the whole deal. Plus all those do-or-die peaked jumps and lots of traffic is NOT what I should do to my knee. I'll be at the race too, but just there w/work (50 and 150 4-stroke challenge).
Posted by: HONDA65---------------------
Where is Belfair? I assume its outdoors, since FC22 doesn't like arenacross. I might be game. Ribs should be healed enough by then.
Posted by: fishhead---------------------
I will probably be at belfair on sunday with the usual suspects. Grandpa, Toad, TT perhaps, The Kid. Grandpa and I will be ther this sun and perhaps Toad will come along. ( not their real names, their riding is to bad for their identities to be revealed.
Posted by: Hondaxrguy---------------------
I really need to head out to Belfair. I've still never been there. I hear the area near Leavenworth is really good too. I hope to also check out a lot of the riding near Lake Chelan this summer. I'll have a whole week there.
Jeremy
Posted by: HONDA65---------------------
BUT, what and where is Belfair? Is it indoors? Outdoors? Open area or an actual track? WHAT, WHAT, WHAT.
Posted by: Hondaxrguy---------------------
It's a large area on the east side of the peninsula. Correct? Lots of trails there. Outdoors of course.

belfair is a town, tahuya state forest is where the riding there is. its on the kitsap peninsula, about 20 miles directly southwest of bremerton.... just outside of belfair.
i might be abe to make this ride... i haven't had the xr out in a long while, i just need to do a quick check-up on it... i'll see if a couple friends can go.
Posted by: HUSAFREEK---------------------
You can do a search on Expediamaps.com and get a pretty good idea where it's at.
Posted by: HUSAFREEK---------------------
OH. I almost forgot I, and a few friends 2 or 3, would like to tag along if you go.
Posted by: Hawaii-Rider---------------------
PS - Tahuya State Forest
This State Forest is said to offer riding that is best during the rainy season The area is covered by glacial till and outwash gravels, ideal for rainy weather trailriding. In the summer ridding can be extremely dusty and troubled with poorer traction.
There are trails for trailbikes and for short-and-long-wheelbase four-wheel drives. All 4WD trails have been built by volunteers. Several campgrounds offer places to stay.
Location: 8 mi SW of Bremerton
Phone: 360-825-1631
Trails: Trailbike - 39 mi
Season: Daylight hours, all year
Fees: None
Belfair quick map, link click http thingy .....
There hows that?
Husafreek:
Thanx for the PM....will check my calendar....Belfair is right down the road from the house....well at least it isnt Spokane...drive wise!
Trails are fun, well maintained, and lots of access areas to the different trails. Soil drains awesome up there...so as it is posted, when it is wet...its good to go...and not slick....

I have to be in Portland Saturday night for a banquet but might be up for a half day in Belfair. I've only been there once and would like to check it out some more with people that know the area. If I go to Reno the next weekend I probably won't do the Belfair deal. Sounds like fun, though. How's that for a maybe?
Posted by: firecracker22---------------------
Now that I brought this up, I don't think I want to go trail riding. The unpredictable things found on the trails are exactly the opposite of what I should be doing. I might go to a track instead. Have fun, guys.
Posted by: WoodsRider---------------------
If you're ever at Belfair (or Reiter Pit) and you meet a couple of big guys, Ron and Rich, riding CR500's tell them Bill from Rob's bachelor says "hello."
Warning, these guys are crazy!
Posted by: MXP1MP---------------------
FC I just rode the track last nite I dont know if it will be changed again before the 2nd/3rd the track was really easy nothing freaky at all. All of the jumps are roll'em fail safe I see no reason why you would crash unless you did something dumb. The biggest jump is a stepup totally rollable... Will you be there on the 3rd?
Posted by: Hawaii-Rider---------------------
Firecracker.....the diamond trail at Belfair is like....yawn easy and NON Technical to the max. Its nothing like single track that Watts or Malcom Smith would cringe at or even that stuff that is down at Pinchot....honest.
Take my kids out there and they are all beginners and it is tame. Now for the others there is more than enough tech fun stuff to do...so a real mix.....but the diamond trail you could drive a Hunting 4-wheeler without any troubles....
Damn just like moving furniture....here...no here....no...no.......there.....no maybe there and here...... :D
load up on that weekend and head to highway 101....that simple!
LOL

Hey, what's up with you Mr. H-R dissin (how DO you spell that?) Spokane?
Just because you were ascared to come ride in the snow!!
Have fun over there and don't you guys hurt FC22.

I ride Belfair all the time and it's great, if maybe a little crowded sometimes. A good variety of trails, from easy to silly tight enduro stuff. It drains pretty well, but there where still a lot of puddles out there on last Sunday. Do you guys park at the Staging area or the Gravel pit? We usually go to the pit off Sand Hill Rd.
Where is this "Coolies" track? Is it a private track or? The nearest track to me is Dairyland in Monroe and it's pretty nice, but I don't think that it would be good when wet.
Anybody ride Walker Valley? That's the nearest place for me, besides my back yard. I don't like Reiter cause it's full of rocks, and then there was the quad guy they found dead up there recently.
Posted by: MXP1MP---------------------
Hey where you at? I'm trying to track down this place my friend from lake stevens was telling me about. Its suppose to be in between marysville/lake stevens/arlington off of high way 9. Its not a "legal" place to ride but I guess peeps go there quite often. supposively you can ride at the pipeline in monroe still I have n't been there in a long time.
Posted by: Hondaxrguy---------------------
"Coolies" is on private property.

Hi Joe, I'm in Lake Stevens, just off Hwy 9. I drive up Hwy 9 to work in Smokey Point, so I'm surprised that I haven't seen this place? See if you can get more info, I could go for a really close place to ride the big bikes.
I'm working on a mini track at my place for xr100/ttr125 racing/playing, but there isn't enough room for big bikes. Maybe we can go riding sometime.

FC,
the Overland trail, Howell lake loop, and Mission creek are easy enough for my 7yr old to ride on the xr70. you won't have any trouble, honest! The Tahuya river trail has a few roots in sections so i would suggest that given your knee. There are also plenty of 4 wheel drive trails available.
Posted by: Highbeam---------------------
I was out at Tahuyah last Saturday and had a great wet time. The biggest challenge is trying to quickly ride through the whoops filled with water. We ran the overland trail for nearly 20 miles. Parking seems best at the paved staging area.
Wanring! There is an ORV enforcement guy in a red S-10 that seemed to be present everywhere we went. Good guy that we talked to for a good while at the big pit. He was nabbing people for 95 bucks a shot for no spark arrestor. He didn't have a sound meter... yet. But the sound is what made him check for spark arrestors. He sent people packing home with no ORV tabs. ..Personally, I think it's great that people are being forced to be legal.
He gave us maps and told us about the 180 miles of maintained, signed trails. 180 miles! There are bridges and concrete root protector blocks. The trails are really well maintained, so well that they don't offer the challenge of rutted wet roots and mudholes in creeks. Easy fast riding everywhere we went.
Oh yeah, my XR500 has the stock exhaust and is ridiculously quiet and legal. Good winter riding.

Well according to my friend is towards the marysville side off of getchell road down by a new housing complex claims it the only one there you can't miss it go's down into a coldasac. Says theres like a place to park by the housing comlex and you can get to the trails from it. According to him you can see the trails from the road. I tried to look it up on mapquest and it kept coming up with 84th st. He said there was no way you'll find it on mapquest its like a small nothing type of road that wouldn't show up on the maps there. It is a real place to ride cause he road his quad there with a friend who lives there. I'll try and check out the monroe pipeline I haven't been there in a long time so I don't know what to expect. Do you know anything about a supposive indoor practice track near arlington inside like a barn? someone I know at the last AX race claims they went there and practiced there. BTW since this is sorta off topic from this thread just email instead or private message me.
Posted by: ttt---------------------
There is a race at woodland on Feb 2nd FC22.
Woodland is a sandy trach with table tops only
and everythings pretty spaced out. It's a good
track for people who don't want to go fast and a bad
track for people like me who try to go too fast.
Don't go to the practices. They are very crowded
and the track gets destroyed. I broke my wrist
there at a practice because of the huge braking
and acceleration holes. the races arn't as bad though
