Pastrana

Will dominate this weekend unless his teamate Windam step up to be a leader....

Posted by: Milquetoast---------------------

Well, I don't know about Windham but how can you not have a soft spot for Pastrana? I think I'd even root for him if he was riding a tricycle. :-)

Posted by: DougMXer---------------------

what's this dumb arse "root for him" phrase I keep reading here. Can't say I've heard it before in Oz. Do you mean you would sell your body to fund his cause or what

No no, that's what you get your girlfriend to do to support your racing.
I guess corner worker would then take on a whole other meaning

"dumb arse" ?
More or less dumb arse than being "keen" for something?

Posted by: XRpredator---------------------

We're all speakin' english, but different languages!

Posted by: justql---------------------

I never have understood motoheads........

Posted by: mxracer724---------------------

I would like to see TP on top of the podium this week that would be sweet. I would also like to see K-Dub do well to though.

Posted by: nephron---------------------

...and I'd like to see TP finally "get a root"

Posted by: J_dem_Bones---------------------

TP was the fastest guy this weekend!! His big arse foot hit it into neutral and crashed. Hes on fire right now!!

Posted by: roosterboy---------------------

jeez i think its pretty obvious that to "root" for him means to barrack, cheer, support him.

Posted by: Milquetoast---------------------

There you go DougMXer, it means to "barrack" him. Duh! (now my dumb arse is confused)

Best I can tell, I don't think he would be looking forward to it and I sure don't want to see it. :scream:

Posted by: Pokie---------------------

it was good to see Roger's boys riding bar-to-bar, even if only for a little while. TP is awesome, K-Dub needs more endurance.....

Posted by: kingriz1---------------------

My buddy has a street bike that is all down I think.

I guess you could do it on a dirt bike too.

Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------

Both things can be done but it doesnt take long for a clutch to overheat when the bike is always in gear. Some 4 stroke GP bikes had 1st gear removed so they were 4 speeds i seem to remember. Most of the time they would use only 2nd and 3rd.Only 1 shift to worry about.

I think it would be a good idea, or even better I wish all the gears were shifted one direction instead of the 1 down and the rest on the up stroke.

Well without a neutral, there would be no 1 down 4 up, would there !! - it would all be up and down !!!

I too am a light shifter, and hit neutral all the time, wish there was a way to switch it off and only have it when need be. There should be a neutral lever on the crankcase, like the old high/low ratio lever on some older bikes, just kick it in when you want neutral !

Looks like TP is going to do good this season, as long as he stays off landing on his konk !

Posted by: marcusgunby---------------------

I tried to make a neutral lock out system once but it wasnt very good, but with the resources it could be easily done-it worked from stopping the shift star locating at the neutral.

Posted by: Saratoga---------------------

No neutral sounds good but think about it. How would you warm your bike up? Also, some bikes are very hard to start while in gear. How about pushing the bike while loading up? It would be a pain without neutral.

My thoughts exactly, which is why having the option to engage or disengage neutral when wanted appeals to me. Maybe have neutral at the bottom, and lock it out after you get started up.

Posted by: HiG4s---------------------

How about making neutral a separate shift lever that is on the top of the engine case and you throw it by hand. Sort of like the lever on those old bikes with the Hi/Lo transmission. Of course as a bike wears there would still be the chance of catching a false neutral.

IF Travis keeps it on two wheels ffor the rest of the season, he'll win the 250 title. Watching the last couple of races, the guy is maturing and is VERY fast. I don't think he ever looked as good on a 125.

There's the ammo to beat me up at the end of the year.

He is definitly learning SMOOTH from K dub. And I think the only thing keeping K dub from being there is conditioning, short races he is awesome but he fades in the main.

Posted by: Jon Sosa---------------------

IMO, K-Dubs problem isn't endurance. It's that he starts thinking to much during the race and starts pumping up or just tighting up in general. Then no matter how much you've trained, it's all over.

J Sosa,

I agree, I think Kevin can knock down 45 minute motos if he is just practicing. He chokes under the stress of racing. I heard that he was getting therapy from a moto shrink. I hope he gets it together...I LOVE his riding style!

Posted by: CR Swade---------------------

I agree about Windham's style. This guy when he decides to leave his head out of his riding is poetry. I'll compare him to Bailey, Reynard and JMB-probably the three most naturally talented/smooth riders I have witnessed. Friggin tons o' natural talent. But that nugget of his...
