getting psyched about driving

I dont know how it works in the U.S., but here in australia to get your licence you first have to get a learners permit, and either do a test or take lessons to move up to your P's (i'm not sure what that stands for) which you have for a while until you get a full licence.
My problem is, I have my learners, have had them since the start of november, but i can't get that enthused about driving, so I'm not getting much practice. It isnt a confidence problem. Can anyone help me get psyched ? what are the best things about driving ? I keep thinking about getting a car and going on a road trip and things like that, but I know I cant do that until i have my P's at least.

Don't rush it but it is always nice to be able to drive yourself to the track

What oldguy said. You'll get more chances with a car than a bicycle.

ahem: things you can do with your car -
You can do tricks with it, practice 180's with it,..etc.
Camp in it
Do stuff to it... i.e. beef it up with performance stuff and get that thing to the race track... vrrooooom!
Tailgate parties
you get to wash it and take care of it,and give it TLC then when your on the road, you get to drive it like you stole it! 
When your out on the road:
attempt to head bang without the music
two words: chicken suit :silly:
when your at a red light: eye the drive next to you VERRRRRY suspiciously.... then act reaaaally horrified while mouthing "its you!!!!!", and lock the doors, and they'll be very confused!!!
or when your driving and someone's in the next lane.... roll down your window... and yell PULL OVER!! PULL OVER!! PULL OVER!!! They pull over,extremely confused, you keep going. Hey! Its none of your concern.. in fact they shouldn't even be driving. :confused:
