Places to ride in North Dallas

Hey I just got a 98 YZ 250 and a couple of friends picked up some cr125s and we are looking for some places to ride. I know there is one place in The Colony. But I am looking for more places. Also places that would good for a beginner. One of my riding buddies is just learning how to ride.

Hey were going to Marshall Creek tommorow which is in Roanoke. Its pretty decent for beginners, but can be deadly on weekends when it is crowded. Feel like meeting us out there. Gonna be a beautiful day, to nice to be at work.

Sorry but gotta work. Need to pay the bills so I can have fun on the weekends.

Try Rocky ridge (for beginners), Muenster ride what you like, Twin hills. All are about 1-1.5 hrs away (from north Dallas)

Where is this place of which you speak in the Colony? What's it like? I'm pretty new to NTX and I haven't heard of anything there.

I'll second the Marshall Creek thing. A lot of fun but more fun during the week. You may find yourself out there alone. Try www.goplayinthedirt.com. They've got a pretty good list of riding areas and tracks in and around DFW.

Hope this helps. Maybe we'll run into each other some time.

hey txbg,
are you referring to the place between TC and Frisco back behind BB Owen, near the water treatment plant? My son and I used to ride there a lot but got a little shy when the rednecks using beer bottles for skeet would come out.
You should go out to shady grove near TX. stadium. Fun track and trails off the side with everything you could want. Several tracks within an hour drive. I have heard fron this board that Nocona mX is a must-do. Plan on trying out as soon as I get back home. Badlands is a blast and I hear they are redesigning the track. Will have to try it our next month. The owners are good people there.

Or, Muenster if your into trails and woods(but we know that trees don't like slo'mo, but that's another story )

Hey i will at marshell creek this sunday! Where is their a place in the colony to ride?

Posted by: Txbigguy---------------------

Its behind BB Owen school. If you take squires all the way until it stops you will the parking lot and entrance on the left. Its a pretty cool place. I spent both days there this weekend teaching my friend how to ride. It doesnt get that crowded so its a great place for beginners. The mud was a little thick in spots but that made it great for me.

Posted by: 99cr250---------------------

Does it have any jumps or trails?

Posted by: Txbigguy---------------------

Its mostly trails but there are some nice jumps out there as well.

Posted by: 99cr250---------------------

Im not sure where that is! Can u give me directions? I will be coming from 423 Little Elm. Is it opened everyday and do they charge to get in? Thanks

Posted by: Txbigguy---------------------

Its not run by anyone. Its just a place that the cops leave you alone at. I heard someone say that there is about 300 acres of land. Directions to get from little elm is go south on 423 and then take a left onto North Colony Blvd. There will be a stop and go on one corner and a 7-11 on the other. Go to the 2nd light and then just about a half a block up there will be a road on the left. That is squires. You want to take a left onto squires off of North Colony. Then just follow squires as it winds around. You will come to a 4 way stop sign. Go strait though it and then you will see the parking lot on the Left. Park in there and unload. You will see the opening to the area on backend of the lot. Its just a dirt road that you can follow in and then it will open up to the different areas.

hey txbigguy, are you and your buddies interested in riding lessons? i've been doing some for folks just like yourself, and it's been fun. while i won't claim to be the fastest guy out there, i've got 20 years of experience and i can certainly teach you the fundamentals you'll need. i am working up another class right now, and we'd be doing it at a private local riding area.

if you like, email me offline at wpattison@ignition.com

Well then you are too modest. Will, you are one of the local fast guys... accept it!

Ditto to Thump. Will, check your mail.

Posted by: will pattison---------------------

thanks, guys. now, uh...where was it i needed to send those checks?

Posted by: yzguy15---------------------

LOL, whatever Will. So at your riding lessons do you teach people your masterful way of riding in the mud. :scream:

Posted by: will pattison---------------------

veeeery funny! let me see now...you've been working in the scoring trailer right? hmmmm, where can i put you that's really cold, dirty, and tiring??

i have to admit, though, that the past year has not been a good mud riding year for me at all.

Hey man, put me wherever. It's all gravy to me. Just remember, if you put me at the check, I might just accidentally take a little longer punching your tag.

Just kidding of course.

Will, I was just bringing back into light where you said that you "turned into a total spode in the mud". Alas, you're still way faster than me, no matter the conditions.
