can anyone try and qaulify for a pro supercross or what do you have to do to try and qaulify.thanks

You have to have your AMA pro license. To get that the first time, you need to get like top three or so at some decent sized AMA santioned races like regionals and such.

Hey Billy are you sure about that.
One of the guys on our club went to Millville MN a couple years ago and TRYED to qaulifiy, he said all he did was send in his money to get his pro-am license. He might of been B-S-ing me, allthough he doesn't race much more then the local stuff, and never near the front.
( I actually saw him on the track at Millville, so I know he wasn't bsing about that!)

Zoomer,
You could be right, I asked this very question last week to some one that should know, because I was kinda entertaining the thought of doing the national at Glen Helen in May. I'm sure things have changed a lot since the 80's
, and I'm pretty sure that they have harder qaulifications for a SX race since you can die out there
. I'll talk to some people and get back with the correct answer next week.

A local pro from around here said all he had to do was sign a form saying that he had at least three years of racing experience and send in the cash. He races a few select supercrosses each year.

There is no mistaking all the AMA wants is $$$.

I found the answers you guys were looking for. This link is to AMA which has the application form stating what it costs and an Eligibility questionaire stating what it takes to get your license.
Basically it says you have to be an "A" class or "Expert" class rider and earned 20 points in the Pro-am, 2 top 3 finishes, and 2 years in the class.
Hope this help clears things up for ya.

There must be a way around that rule as a local rider here who had never raced in any event higher than the intermediate class turned pro the week before his first attempt at Supercross.

The AMA isn't known for strict rule enforcement.
