Needs Paint

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: JuliusPleaser---------------------

I just bought a scooter to use as a pit bike, but it's a lovely shade of Hot Gomer Pink Metallic. As much as I like pink (matches ALL my outfits), I think I'm going to let one of my friends paint it YZ metallic blue - the frame colr, not the plastic.

Does anybody have access to factory paint codes for bikes? I already searched, and came up empty-handed.

Ain't she bee-yoo-tee-ful?

needs a works pipe and maybe some brushguards
I'm happy with my pink scoot though, check it out:

If the Stooges want some good shots, I'll be happy to supply 'em. What views would you like, and how many? I'm going to have access to the studio Saturday (we're shooting a McLaren M8!) so I can supply anything you want.

I have some hi-res shots already if ya want them.

Super rat, how's the new addition to the family coming along?

Posted by: TwinSpar---------------------

If possible, a good shot of the scoot on a plain contrasting background would be awesome. It makes slicing and dicing that much easier. Thanks JP!

As a matter of fact, go to Wal-Mart and get some pink tassles for the grips. I wanna see that thing scootin' around the pits at DW02 in all of it's 'flaming' pink glory! (And I wanna ride it:D )

God JP, don't encourage them!

Is the color a part of the body panel, like a plastic pour of the color? A chip in dark blue paint that shows hot pink underneath will be pretty noticeable. Any flex that causes the paint to crack and expose that beautiful pink will be noticeable also.

This is like the guy who paints the pink car black. The jambs will be pink, under the hood is pink.

I agree, leave it pink.

I still want to know if thats a Riva Razz... If it is welcome to the club. I am going to paint my Razz bright blue with green flames. They are kickass little scooters, too bad mine needs a new top end :think

He didn't... You provided all the encouragement needed.

Yup, it's a Riva Razz. It's an '87 model, and I got it for $100. I bought a $97 carb and got it running with very little effort.

Highbeam, I've done a lot of color changes on cars. I used to restore convertible Volkswagens, and almost always changed the color. It works if it's done correctly. The scooter is painted, rather than being color-impregnated. There's a piece missing from the front leg shield, so it's gonna have to be painted regardless.

Lou, how do you know that Wal-Mart has pink tassles? Hmmm?

Tspar, I think we're using a white background for the McLaren shoot. You want me to do some shots on a couple floppies and send em to ya? What size images do you prefer?

Posted by: TwinSpar---------------------

JP,
I don't need ultra high res. 640X480 is plenty big and emailable. I can size down from there. 2.1 or 3.x megapixel images are about as big as I can recieve because of email restrictions. I hope you are not dragging the Razz down to the photo shoot just for this. A shot with it sitting on concrete (driveway) would work fine for a contrasting background. Don't go out of your way on my account. Thanks again!

JP, Memo or Senna is doing fine and should get out in 7 weeks. Post some pics of the McLaren. leave it pink.

Posted by: gospeedracer---------------------

JP, I think I've just found a whole new respect for you. I think you should leave it pink too.
So ya gonna have Eric Gorr port that bad boy?

Wow cool! Mine is from 1987 also. I didn't buy a new carb, I just soaked mine in carb cleaner for 12 hours and then 4 more in a sonic bath. It's a fun little scoot but a pain in the ass to work on. Mine needs a new top end I think, if it uses a reed valve then I might just need to clean them out. If I make it to Dirt Week lets have a Razz Race!!

Hmmm, there's a thought. Can he build a pipe for it too?

KTMDude, If you want to sell yours, let me know. I'm pretty close to Anustown.

Rat, I got to check out the McLaren today. It's orange (duh) and it's an M8C from late '69. Vic Elford drove it back in the day. I'd sure like to take it for a spin. . . After looking it over, I had a Ferris Bueller moment, but my bud wouldn't even discuss a test drive. We're going to detail it tomorrow and set up the shot Monday. The thing's been parked for a while, and it's pretty nasty.
