Who Saw YROC?

Lechien? I swear, that was Wardy! Anybody that wants to know how Mr. MX D-17 looks when riding... you saw it.

Props to my first MX Hero Marty Smith too, great ride! The "Bionic Motocrosser" still hauls.

I watched it . Lechien looked good even on the 125.

Posted by: sfc crash---------------------

is this the new yroc series inthat they allow other riders in? i'd love to see a "masters" mx.

Posted by: Budda---------------------

Love to watch those races. To bad Hannah didn't race, though.
Does anyone know where you can get those jerseys they were wearing? They are sweet!

Posted by: JuliusPleaser---------------------

Check these guys out. Metro Racing

Posted by: Offroadr---------------------

Every year Hannah has a different excuse why he is not out there. I wish they would not even invite him any more.

Posted by: sfc crash---------------------

. no hurricane!...stop what you are doing immediately and seek emergency medical attention.

Posted by: Offroadr---------------------

sorry SFC but it irks me that all these other past champions (some way older than him) don't mind getting out there and racing, why can't Hannah?

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Looks like Bob lost the nads a long time ago. Course, if I won on pure guts, I wouldn't be riding now either The guys that are in had the talent, still do. He just couldn't bare being beat by those who had REAL talent. (More than just the will to twist the throttle). Flame on!

I know Marty reads DRN... that was for you bud.

Posted by: XRpredator---------------------

Offroadr, I read somewhere a while back in an article about Hannah that he can hardly ride at all any more. After taking such a beating over those jumps with the inferior suspension (by today's standards) his legs are just hammered.

I think it's a case of an old guy that is so competitive, and knows he can't compete at the level he used to, so he doesn't even bother. I work with a guy like that. Won't even race just for fun.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Was he jumping stuff no one else was? Nah.... he's just trying to protect his "legend". He was always out of control and floppin' all over the bike.

I watched him almost kill himself at Mid-Ohio in 75 trying to keep up with Marty, who was doing two jumps, first "double" I'd ever seen... yeah it was only about 60-70 feet, but on a 75 Elsinore? DeCoster wasn't even doing it.

Dude you bust me up. I guess Bob was just lucky to keep it on two wheels for a moto.

If thats the case I understand. I guess it would help to know that. Larry Meier prodded him pretty hard and he never said anything.

Posted by: sfc crash---------------------

i wanna' ride on guts i've got plenty, only problem now , there is this nasty little overide switch, hardwired in,that after many years of doing "guts" stuff, shuts down my stupid switch which in turn overides my guts switch and....well, just another old man with bum knees, bad back and a fast bike. maybe i gotta work on the skills aspects. :think

Posted by: BEEF706---------------------

Ya know, Hannah was one of my major heroes back in the day and I feel a little disappointed that he won't go at it any more. If he is too beat up to moto, I can relate but he comes off as condescending and bitter. Maybe after all the things he has said about the new riders he doesn't want to open hiself up for criticism, or maybe he is so hyper competetive he can't race" for fun"` either way its kinda sad. BTW Lechien is my new hero, doing it for all the beefy gus in the moto world!

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Wow, I thought I'd get strung-up for slamming Hannah!

Posted by: dirt bike dave---------------------

OK, Okie, I'll take the bait

First of all, I didn't think Hannah was even on a factory bike until '76 when he won Round 1 at Hangtown on the water pumper.

No disrespect to Smith because he was a great champion, but Hannah proved long ago that he was on a higher level.

Let's compare some results:

125 National Victories: Hannah 8, Smith 8

500 National Victories: Hannah 2, Smith 2

Pretty close so far

250 National Victories: Hannah 27, Smith 2

250 SX Victories: Hannah 27, Smith 3

TRANS AMA Victories: Hannah 6, Smith 3

MXdN Appearance: Hannah 4, Smith 0

MXdN Victories: Hannah 1, Smith 0

Hannah has nothing left to prove on an MX track. So I can respect his decision not to diminish his legacy, especially if he's not in race shape.

Bully, dirt bike dave! BULLY!

Posted by: Patman---------------------

Ron Lechien looked GREAT! I just watched it (Tevo'ed) and he just kept getting faster. A truely great talent. Marty Smith looked good, about as good as ever and really good for an old guy! Broc Glover is still stupid fast. I was really bummed that Hurricane bowed out again Sure can't blame him if he doesn't want to go out and get the aches and pains is some hammered knees but heck I'm slow and have the same problem but I'm out to have fun not uphold my status as Mr. Gun it-n-Guts.

Posted by: JimmyD2---------------------

I caught a real quick glimpse of YROC a few weeks ago. Is it on again? Was it SpeedVision that was showing it? I looked on SpeedVision.com but didn't see anything. I GOTTA see it! :scream:

Evidently some of these guys are not aware of his exploits in the Reno air races and the 500mph race planes he flew and almost died in a couple of times. I just don't think Bob is interested in racing motocross anymore and I'm sure he's not interested in bustin himself up just to prove he can still wax the same guys he kicked around 20 years ago.

Then don't show up and make excuses! Just say 'my knees can't take it anymore'
