My son sank my kdx 200 in a swamp. so now that I have the engine apart I am thinking about replacing the reeds. I have a gold series FMF pipe. I want to have a reliable bike that I don't have to rejet all the time or tweek. Should I be wasting my time with boyseen reeds? do they foul plugs more ? do O have to buy new jets / mains ? I would like a little more end if possible for woods.

Kurtisw5,
A few questions for you:
What year is your bike?
Does it have stock reeds in it now?
Does it have stock jetting?
Any mods?
Do you foul plugs now?
If everything is stock (except for the pipe) then you probably need to jet the bike correctly anyway. Once jetted correctly you should not have to constantly tweek unless atmospheric conditions change dramatically (elevation/temp/humidity).
Should you be wasting your time with the Boyseen reeds - Yes (IMO). They cost very little too.
By doing some searches you will find a ton of info on the bike. Whatever you can not find people here will give some great advice. Take a look at the JustKDX website too.

I do have stock carb. What size needle do I need to get for the main ?. any other carb stuff ? I have not fouled plugs yet

Your needle will probably be fine the way it is. Your Main & Pilot JETS are what you may want to change.
Go to http://justkdx.dirtrider.net/ and read some of the carb tuning sections.
For starters you could try a 45 pilot and a 155 main jet with the Boyseen Power reeds. I think that you will notice the change. The factory stock jetting tends to be overly rich. I am assuming the your KDX200 is a 96' - 02' model as you have not specified.
Good Luck.

The Boyesens are pretty much the reed for the kdx of all years unless you want to spring for the rad valve. Thet worked well on the earlier 200's and I like the improvment they made in throttle reponse on my modified 220.

I wuold recommend gettin them as they add POWER!!!! Just watch your plug to see if you need to rejet, most of the time it isn't that big of a difference, or at least not on my 250. Make sure to check them at the annual top end matinence as they tend to bend or warp, but who cares they are cheap enough to replace.
