How does the YZ250F compare in acceleration to a YZ250. I have a 2-stroke 250 now, but these old bones are getting tired of fighting the 2-stroke power burst. That burst as thrown me in the dirt too many times lately. I don't race, just ride with my son on our own track and a few small tracks in our area. Occasionally we ride the field paths and woods trails. There aren't many 250F's in my area so local knowledge is hard to get. My dealer says there isn't much difference, but he also told me last year not to buy a 250F, to buy the 2-stroke instead.

The 250 F is an excellent bike, but there is a reason that it races in the 125 class. In sheer acceleration, the 250 two stroke and the 250F cannot be compared. However, the 250F has a very rideable smooth powerband, which is what it sounds like you are looking for.

I just went from a cr 250 to a yz 250f. Spent 4 hours at the track yesterday and am 75% less sore than I woas on the 2stroke 250. Mo more hanging on for dear life fighting every step of the way. The 250f is plain and simple fun. You feel as you are always in control and that the world as slowed down when you are actually going faster.
