well boys i cant figure out which bike to get. i do want something that is fast and has a good bit of power. i thought about gettin a new YZ but they only have 5-speeds now. i like the CR alot but everyone around here has them and i wanna be different
. 1 friend has a 86 CR 125 another has a 87 CR 125,2001 blaster, ?? model banshee, 98 or 99 yz 250, 2001 YZ 125!!!!!!!! as you can see every one likes the 2 strokes. and i want something that can hang wih all of them. But i want a 125 i dont have to be able to out run them but i do wanna be able to say with them. I dont like the KTMs because i would rather stay with the basic 4 makes. And i would like to know about how often i would have to rebuild it? Would i be better with a YZ?? you boys gotta help me??!! this is my first bike by the way, although i have rode several. any sugestions would be nice

Ktms are a more expensive way to go, but they come wt all the goodies. You also pay alot more for ktm parts:mad: .Yamaha's (Yz's) are great bikes too. I think any newer 125 will suite you fine. Why dont you want a 5spd ?. Do you think a 6spd goes faster? , NO!. If your a begginer rider i'd say you could go about once a season on a top-end.

I can't help but laugh about the 5 speed comment, for '02 the gear ratios changed to compenstate this so its now like a 250 tranny. So compared to a 6 speed box you can wind out each gear like another 100 rpm depending on the gear. The last bike I owned with a 6 speed gear box I shifted it into 6th like 8 times the whole two years I owned it! A few times were on accident other wise it was cause I was flying down a fire road and just upshifted even though 5th wasn't even tapped out yet. Its all about the ratios how many gears it has doesn't really mean much. I know die hard off roaders will disagree but your just really starting to ride you won't notice it! My choice's for an '02 125 would be this exactly #1 YZ125 #2 Tie RM 125 or KTM 125 #3 CR125 #4 Husky CR125 #5 KX #6 Gasgas #7 TM (price knocks it back here)

KTMs cost the same as any of the big 4.

Not here in Canada. A new Ktm is at least $1000 more than a jap bike.

Now where have I seen this before. I can't remember if it was Dirt Rider or Dirt Bike. BTW of the bikes listed how many have you ridden? Just curious if you have a personal experience with them. I'm kinda in the same boat with puddlejumper.
