dad just got me new XR250... how do I start it?

Which way does the choke go to choke it? Up or down? And what are your starting procedures? I was in school when he picked it up, I didn't know he was doing it. The guy he bought it off of fouled the plug but we have new ones. Its a 2002 XR250 with 20 miles.

Heres how I always started mine. If its cold, pull the choke up, to all the way. Take the kick starter and press it down until you feel the bike come up on compression. You'll know because it will get hard to push it down. Now return the kick starter back to the top and give it a nice solid, full kick. Don't give it any gas. Usually on mine if it fired but didn't stay running I could take the choke back off and get it to start. Once you get it down should be a 1-4 kick deal for ya.

Ok, I got it. Out 2 miles on it then had to go do my homework... I ghate homework. I still don't have it done. Guess I should go do it.

Homework is only awful if you fight it. Flow with it like a good ride on your new bike. Your father had to do the equivalent of about 1 years worth of home in order to earn the $ to buy your bike. Show him you appreciation and learn to relax and ace your homework. It gets fun if you wire it, just like your bike.
