Bore:Stroke and torque...Which bike???

A question for all you four stroke experts. My understanding of engine mechanics suggests that a large bore and short stroke would equate to a higher reving engine with less torque. Basically less angle on the crank and therefore less leverage to create torque. Correct?? I would think that torque would be more advantageous for woods riding and HS than RPMs.
I noticed that the KTM has one of the lowest bore to stroke ratios while the YZF has the highest. I was considering a Husky 450TE but i see it has a B:S even higher that the YZ. I can't find any specs on torque for the new 4-strokes, but would be very interested to see it. What advantage does a high reving bike have in a Hare Scramble?
I'm looking for something for woods riding and HS. I need smooth power delivery and lots of low - midrange power. Besides a KTM520 or 400, what choices do I have for this type of machine? Besides a KTM, only thing else I've seen is a Husaberg and maybe a VOR.
