There are tests of 1990, 1992 & 1999 500's at Maico Brothers . They also have brochures & a price list for the 2002 models.Lots of other cool Maico stuff there too.

Hope this helps.

Midwest KTM in Valpo Indiana is an authorized Maico dealer

Since I've always liked Maicos, I looked into the (new) ones a couple of years ago. The reviews were pretty good. I talked to a Euro dealer out in California (Erics in Pasadena) a couple of months ago and he was telling me that he heard the current company that was making the new Maicos stopped making them. I think Kostler bought all the leftovers. Not sure about this and maybe someone else can fill us all in.

The whole story of Maicos downfall is pretty sad. Those Corte-Cosso shocks really did them in. They were looking really good in 1981. I really wish the Maico name comes back strong again.

I didn't know they still made them.

A fellow I rode with a month or so ago has a mid-90's 500 enduro and has a 2002 380 enduro on the way very soon. He had recently ridden a 2001 320 enduro, he claimed it was the best enduro bike he had ridden, combining the stable handling of a TM with the smooth power delivery of a GasGas 300, but stronger. I rode his 500 for a while and have to say that the handling was very nice and the motor was quite smooth (reminded me of a Husaberg). Koestler in Germany is making new Maicos for moto, enduro, and motard (as in 620cc 2-stroke!!!!).

The real story is a bit more sinister. Check it out>>>Who killed Maico <<< I hope they come back too
