KDX Jetting

I have a 93 KDX 200 that I bought used. I installed a set of Boysen Power reeds recently. The instructions said that they would make the bike run rich. The engine runs fine, but there is a lag when I accelerate quickly. I pulled the jets out so I could order new ones, but I was surprised to find out that the pilot jet I have installed is a 38 (the main jet was a 150). I intended to lean up the jets some, but a 38 is pretty lean already. Should I just keep the 38? Would leaning the main jet eliminate the lag? HELP!

I'm running a 42 / 150 in my 1992 KDX 200. I was running a little rich after installing Boysen reeds too. I was haveing a bit of a wet fouling problem with a 48 pilot. 42 was the smallest I could get at the dealer without having to order so I went with it. I have quick response if the bike is warmed up and the idle air screw is adjusted properly. Air temp and humidity really play havoc on the KDX's. Mine has a FMF fatty pipe, removed air box lid, and Boyesen Reeds.

Yep. Adjust to best throttle response. I can put a bog in my bike with 1/8 turn off on the AS. The 'hi-idle' setting is only ballpark. You'll almost certainly be 'in' (richer) than that setting to get best throttle response.

Choose your main jet with a WOT plug chop check, not with off idle throttle response.

38/150 is pretty skinny already. I wouldn't rely on that jet choice without some tuning/testing to verify it.
