What's the best small digital camera?

I am looking at digital cameras and I would like one small enough to fit in my pocket that takes decent pictures. In the under $500 range, what do you recommend?

I don't know about the BEST but I have a Pencam. It is 4.9"x1.2"x.8" so I guess it is the smallest. It takes 80 352x288 pixel pictures or 320 176x144 pixel pictures. It will also stream about 30 seconds of video and will function a s a real time webcam trough the supplied USB adapter It is not the best but it fits in my fanny pack ( in a tooth brush case) and works pretty well as long as you don't want 800x600 pixel resolution. It uses 2 AAA batteries and lasts about two weeks on them ( I remove them between picture taking to extend life) It also cost 80 bucks!
