Just bought a KTM, with braided front brake line, brakes feel as spungy as my old rm with rubber line, which I did bleed often. Have had a few roadrace bikes with braided brake lines and the brake lever feel's very firm, no spungy feel at all.
It is too cold to work or ride my bike and will be for at least another month before I can try and bleed the brakes.
So my problem is some spongieness good? That way you have some feel as to what the brake is doing or am I thinking way too much into this. Thanks.

i ride both street and dirt. i think most dirt only riders rely too heavily on the rear brake. most street bike people know that 80% of the stopping power is found in the right hand and not your right foot. braking feel on dirt is not talked about very often. a lot of the feel has to do with the internal valving of the brake cylinder. its true that spongy feeling can be caused by old swollen rubber brake lines but most mx bikes already have a sheathed or stainless brake hose. i personaly like my dirt front brakes to be low effort. while riding hard and with arm pump there is not enough hand power to deal with the "feel" part of it. while braking on dirt, i will only use the front if the bike is going straight. ie before a corner. if i do lock it up, i can recover. if im still too hot ill trail the rear a bit. i think "feel" is needed on the street though. you do a lot of braking while cornering and creeping up on the limit is the order of the day.
