Picture of TP out cold at Daytona

I found this photo in another chat site

Man I wish so bad that TP would get things together and win a few races (or at least not end up like this every other race). As VintageDirt said earlier in the "broadcast" thread - if TP doesn't start doing better he may go back to FMX. I have heard/read a few of his comments/articles/etc. that have kinda hinted towards this. Heck - look at last year in the 125 nationals - he pulled out of the series due to concussions/etc. but still raced a FMX competition RIGHT AFTER pulling out of the nationals. Maybe he'll get things together for 250 nationals? Everyone knows he has the speed to do it. It's a shame to see someone so fast and so young having 2 seasons in a row like this. Keep your head up TP! Maybe he's just having a SX season like RC did in '00 (remember he crashed a lot and was a little on the edge, too). Then RC came back in '01 to DOMINATE. So maybe Travis will do the dominating sometime soon.

Nikki,
TP is one of my heros because he knows how much the fans mean to him. Got an e-mail address we can send our well-wishes to him?

good thing he had his Alpinestars on !!

Three words----Post-concussion-syndrome. IMHO he should take at least a year off of riding. Stop!! Cold turkey. Now I realize getting a kid to stop doing something he likes is almost impossible but someone has to be the adult and keep him from hurting himself or someone else. I don't buy the flu story at all.

I really wish him the best, he is an amazing talent, but he is flirting with disaster.

Posted by: Vic---------------------

That's not good.

Posted by: dirt bike dave---------------------

I also think the flu story is bogus and is probably a convenient excuse.

It's true people suffering from the flu may pass out after physical exertion. But Travis sure looked healthy dominating his heat race, and he was hardly breathing hard in a post heat-race interview about 5 seconds after crossing the line. Then he ran very strong for 12 laps in the main on a brutal Daytona track. Then he reportedly blacks out and hits the ground like bag of rocks. It COULD be flu related, but just MAYBE it could be related to bouncing his head and body off the ground about 20 times (that we know of) in the last year.

I really hope he is getting a COMPLETE medical evaluation and it would not surprise me at all if he sits out the rest of the SX season.

I tend to believe the flu thing... he was wearing a camel back during the main. Anyone that's been dehydrated and exerted themselves, knows how easy it is to pass out. Been there, done that.

And I can tell ya this, if you've had the strain of flu going around this year, it was a KILLER. I NEVER get sick, this one put in me bed for 3 days. It was wicked.

Gotta agree with Okie on this one- altho I haven't had the flu this season, yet. Dehydration is a typical side effect and compounded with the florida heat (for this time of year), and riding a tough track in the sun will all lead to heat stroke. One effect of heat stroke is a quick shutdown of your system as your body temp/hydration level reaches a critical stage. The fact that he had a great heat race and looked good for 12 laps only makes it more of a health problem.

All this said I hope I am wrong but I really feel Travis will drop out of racing within 2 seasons for many reasons. some of them are- the regiment of racing weekly is wearing on him, the fun is going away fast and the pressure to live up to fans expectations is grueling. FMX is more laid back and allows him to be creative every time out thus maintaining the fun level. I also believe with Bubba and Reed coming on fast Travis will lose the spotlight and drift into the back ground and eventually leaving racing. As I said I really hope I am wrong but to me Travis shows signs of severe burnout, when would you ever expect him to pull of the track because he is feeling tired even tho he is running in the top 3 at a national?

Travispastrana.com has his e-mail

I also tend to belive the flu. But have heard that travis is having trouble keeping weight on his bones due to the workout program he is using and may have a similer problem that D Henery had .
Only time will tell if our shining star will continue to burn for some time to come. Travis is what our sport needs . Hope to see him soon healthy and back up front where he belongs

Travis is out next week according to Racer X. Travis is heading to John Hopkins University to help get his health straightened out. http://www.racerxill.com/main.cfm# According to the little breaking news thing Travis hasn't been able to breath through his nose in five years! I wouldn't have waited that long to get things in order if this was me.
