Lower Triple Clamp and Stem question ??????

I need to press the stem out of my lower triple clamp (2001 WR426F), my question is thie: is the stem tapered or is it straight? in other words does the stem have to come out of the press fit hole in the bottom triple clamp one direction only, or do you just press it out from the bottom (tire side) of the clamp? Thanks!

You press it from the top down towards the rear fender it will also release the bearing and seal at the same time.
When you replace it you press it from the bottom it will seat on a small retaining ring on the stem then you press the new seal and bearing on the stem from the top.
