I've been very happy with the S12/S12 combo.

in your part of the country that the M-12 F/ S-12 R works real well. If you have a lot of rocks then the S-12 rear may chunk and yu may consider the M-12, but use S-12 if you can as it gives better traction in the mud, sand and softer dirt.

I have an S-12 R now and a really like it but we have lots of sand and not too many rocks.

The M-12 front S-12 rear shouild work good up in New York. I was a member of CATRA out of Albany and ran dunlop 752's there. The S-12 has much better traction and seems to last alot longer even in the rocks.

I ran an S-12 rear at Catraland and a few races/rides in New England last year. It chunked bad in the rocks up here. It lasts longer over in central and western NY where the soil is less rocky and absolutely kicks butt in midwest mud and sand.

It kicks butt in MI sand too. I love the s 12 rear, I have a Dunlop 755 front and was thinking about a S 12 front too but I'm not sure it will be better than the 755 except it will wear longer I think.

In my opinion, the S-12 rear doesn't last. it hooks up good, but doesn't have the durability like the M-12 rear. I ride in everything from mud, sand, rocky stuff. When i had the S-12 rear on, i raced on it at a harescramble. It was and extremly muddy race and the tire still managed to chunk on the roots and rocks. The tire was junk after the race. I only run M-12's now, and there nothing but great for my terrain. I also really like Michelins Starcross front tire.

cr125_king,
What size was the S12 you used? The 120 size is the same as a 100 in anyone else's tire line and that's not a good tire. The knobs are very small in comparison to the 130 (same as a 110) and 140 (same as a 120) S12's. I've found the 130/140's wear extremely well.

I've had a rear 130/70-19 S12 on for almost a whole year now, it's chunked a bit but it's still sharp. I may turn it around and run it for a few more months, but I do have a new one sitting in the garage begging to be mounted..
I've *never* had a tire lasting anywhere close to this..
