i am a proud new owner of a' 02kdx220r.so far i have been
impressed with the overall package.i have read several of these threads and look forward to trying out the various advice and suggestions in this forum.the last time i had to cut some number
plate backgrounds was in '82 on a same year model yz125.yes,this
is the first dirt bike i have purchased new since then as i have
been riding street only for the better part of the last 15yrs.so.tell
me if pre-cut backgrounds and/or pre printed backgrounds with numbers are readily or somewhat available.call me lazy, but i will
take full advantage of modern technology.i guess the headlight/number plate is the issue here.i plan on riding h/s,enduro

I am waiting on some # plate backgrounds that have been on B.O. for a month. I believe the manufacture is Factory Connection who makes them for the KDX. I did go to a local sign maker and he gave me some leftover decal material to make my own - free but very thin!

Factory Effex makes/made pre-cut backgrounds in Black, Yellow, and white for the '95-'02 KDX 200/220. I know this for a fact because i purchased a set of white ones and a set of yellow ones. However, the part number does not show up in the current Parts Unlimited catalog. Nor will you find the number on Factory Effex's web site. You best bet is to contact Factory Effex directly and see if they still make these.

You can have custom backgrounds with numbers made by Decal Works. In fact, you can send them you number plates and they will install them and send them back. Decal works has a couple of ads in this month's Racer X. I'm sure they have a website, but I don't know what it is.

Good luck. Welcome back to the dirt. You'll kick yourself 20 times for leaving the dirt and staying gone that long.
