Pro Circuit

I've recently purchased a '98 KDX220 that's stock except for removal of the airbox cover and an FMF silencer. I've found a reconditioned, used Pro Circuit Torque pipe and would like to get some feedback before purchasing. I know that the recommendation is typically to use an FMF Rev pipe but I can get the PC pipe pretty cheap. Anyone have experience with this? Is it basically the same as the FMF and what jetting changes might be required? Most of my riding will be is in tight woods and hills here in northeast and southeast Ohio. I've spent most of my offroad life riding trials or dual-sport on dirt roads and since my kids are riding now I figured that this would be a much better mount for playing in the woods and riding the local Hare Scrambles tracks.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

I thought you'd want a TORQUE pipe for woods riding. A REV is for more open riding. Most guys that I know who ride tight woods run a TORQUE pipe.

Ferdette told me on the 220's that a torque pipe is a waste of money
because the 220 is set up with more torque anyway. He said the aftermarket
torque pipe will act just like the stock pipe, rev and then flatten out quickly.
The rev pipe will accent the torque thats already there by adding mid and topend
rev. If you go with the rev pipe you can always add cheep bottom end accessories
to improve torque like a 12 tooth front sprocket...$13-$14.00.
My two cents, Let us know what you decide... TN.220

I've got a pro circuit on my 98 220 r and it works great. My bike is stock except for raised the needle one clip. Works every bit as good as FMF, and it fits better.

I've had the same results as Sure Shot. Unless you're talking about an older PC pipe, the current ones function very similar to FMF "Desert" or Rev pipe. On my 200 the mid to top end greatly improved. I understand on a 220 they improve low to mid, just like the FMF Rev. The FMF "Woods" is not recommended for the 220.

Hope this helps.

You bet! I just replaced an FMF rev with Pro Circuit. They both perform about the same, but the pro circuit bolted right up. No tinkering here and shimming there like the FMF pipe required. Come to think of it, the majority of all my fmf products either do not fit well or they are missing assembly parts..

Mu used '01 220 came with a '95 PC no.0332 pipe. Back then only the 200 existed and I haven't been able to find out if it was considered a rev pipe or a torque pipe. That being said, it gives plenty of torque and is difficult to stall, sometimes pulls wheelies in 3rd and I haven't really tinkered with jets.(YET). If the price is right, go for it. It can be painted also if you like and be made to look nice.
