Top end job questions

Doing a top end job on my KDX and I have two questions. When using Cometic gaskets does it make any difference if the printed side faces up or down? Secondly, what is the easiest way to hold the rings while fitting the cylinder back over? Is there a cheap tool to do this or is it best to try and hold the rings by hand? Thanks

I recently completed a top end job on my 220. Doing the rings I placed one wrist pin circlip in the piston. I then compressed the rings by hand and slid the piston into the cylinder. Remember to leave the wrist pin area of the piston exposed. With the assistance of my son we lowered the piston/cylinder combination into position and slid the wrist pin into the piston. Carefully install the wrist pin clip and slide the cylinder into place. Remember - don't drop the piston circlip in the bottom end, stuff a rag into the opening to add some security.

That's the method that Eric Gorr outlines in his book. I found it a lot easier to do by myself than the traditional method. If you don't stuff a rag around the rod first, the circlip *WILL* spring out and fall into the crankcase.
