Sparkplugs again!

So now I know to use a BR8ES and thats all cool but my next question is what do I gap it too?
I have heard and read that the higher the modified engine the less gap a guy needs, true or false?
If true what is the recomended gap?

I have never seen anyone gap a spark plug in all my years! I think
all the NGK plugs must be pretty close. Most of our group run the BR7ES
though. We ride a lot of tight woods!

I used to check the NGK plug gaps, but they were always .030 +/- 001. I don't bother checking any more.

.030 is fine. Why an '8'? Did you start with a '9'?
re: more modified 'needs' less gap.
Don't think so. Semantics maybe, but if it's more modified (ie higher compression) maybe the spark can't make it across the increased pressure, so making the gap smaller gives you a more reliable spark.
Given a choice of 'more reliable' vs: 'hotter' (wider) spark, I'd choose more reliable. What you WANT, though, is a hotter AND more reliable spark.
If you've got the capability, MORE is better with spark. That's why MSD triggers multiple times during ONE timing event.
BTW..something fredette mentioned awhile back in regard to kdx 'upgrades': put in a bigger (electrex) lighting coil. I don't know why for sure, but it makes a better spark. Some FM EMF kinda thing...
