good deal? 01 mxc400(500 miles) vs 01 exc300(new)

I have a used 01 mxc400 stock(500 miles at most). Dealer has 01 exc300 new. What would be a good deal for me? I want a 2 stroke before I die - whether it is a bad decision or not.
Thoughts?

You stand to loose alot of money 
, I would ride the bike you have and "finish it off" before spending that kind of money. Have you thought about buying a used bike in addition to your mxc? I would think the differance you would loose might buy a good used(98' +/-) one and then you have 2!

I do understand wanting a 2 stroke though - quit a differant animal in many respects.

You bring up some good points. I suspect my 500 miles on my mxc would translate to about $3 a mile (ie $1500 for 500 miles) - a significant loss - and that is a guess. On the other hand - we dirtbikers aren't the smartest crew when it comes to spending money. Buying something used (2 stroke) for about $3,000 and riding it for a year and reselling is likely to be better than a $1500 loss. 3 bikes in the shed again is not going to set well with momma! When I only ride once a month.

YES - theres something about her that makes us listen!!!! I've seen 250-300exc's selling for about $3K - should be able to ride it for a year and resale for about $2,800+/-. This is the approach I've taken - sure is nice - one breaks - no prob., get the other one!
P.S. Why is it I know this saying - could it be the little woman!

Hey, I've always wanted a 4 stroke. How about an even swap. '01 300mxc wired for lights with about 500 miles on it for your 400. What a deal!
