Do any of you guys out there brew your own beer at home?
Posted by: dklink2000---------------------
I'm trying to. It's not that easy.

What have you made so far. I just got done with a honey ale. Came out pretty good.

As the book says. Relax, it's only beer.
I made a brown ale earlier this winter. I sent out a couple of samples from my first batch, and got no complaints. The only person who didn't like it was the Mrs. She doesn't like beer you can't see through.
Matter of fact, I'm heading off the the local brew house supply shop tonight to get my next batch going.
mmmmmmmmm. . . beeeeeeer

I think I'm gonna make a pilsner. She'll be able to see through that. :silly:
Anyone got a suggestion for what type of pilsner to make?

How do you brew a beer? Whats involved... maybe I could make a couple of bucks around campus.... or maybe I'll just drink it all my self

Brewing beer is fun. Its takes a bit of work up front but after a couple of times it becomes cheap and easy to do. You can get starter kits for around 100 bucks or so. Check out http://williamsbrewing.com you can see whats involved out on their site.

2 stage Brewing with (at least) a partial grain is the way to go. Check out this site

that's funny, my wife was the same way. I always have made "darker" beers, she wants me to make some watered down bud light crap. So far, I haven't given in. Actually, once I set out to make a lighter beer, but "accidently" ran out of light malt extract, and had to substitute some dark stuff. And "accidently" give it a bit of extra hops too!
Actually, her tastes have changed and she would probably like the darker beer now. I haven't made any beer for a long time...
