(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

After adding the Pro Circuit T4 muffler to my 02 XR400 the increase in power was excellent.Has anyone installed the Stroker headpipe or any other after market pipe to their 400.I wanted to know what kind of power increase I could expect.

Hey,
Larger diameter headers do more for top end at the expense of low end torque. If you are a rock crawler, stick with the stock header. If you are a desert rider, the header would be nice. I'm really not familiar with the particular header you mentioned. However, from what I've gathered, headers, in general, don't give very much bang for the buck. You would be better off with a Mikuni pumper carb, nice handlebars, heavy duty footpegs, handguards, heavy duty spokes, skid plate, baja designs kit etc...

It is my understanding that the stock head pipes on the XR's are a good quality and flow well. I have heard people talk about cleaning up the weld on the inside on the pipe where it meets the head flange. I removed mine and it was not to obtrusive and did not appear to be blocking much of the flow. However, I am not an exhaust expert but my FMF muffler made a huge difference over the stock unit.
