compression damping screw loose?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The compression damping screw on the bottom of the forks keeps turning out. When I set it to 6 clicks out a few rides later it is 10 clicks out. My question is what do I have to do to tighten it? I have the forks apart right now for fork seal replacment. Do I need to take out the base valve on the forks just to tighten it? By the way it is on my '98 YZ125.

never heard of the clicker adjusting during a ride-do the clicks still feel positive?

The clicker feels just like all the other ones I have adjusted and there is definitely a click that I can feel and hear. The clicker is not loose or anything, it has tension like the other.
At the track I will set both forks to 6 clicks, then after a day at the track I check both forks and one is out 6 clicks and the other is at 10 or so.

I have no idea as to why it should do this.

Wow, sure your buddies aren't messing with you?

It can't be my buds because I guard my bike like a hawk.
Should I just put the forks back together and assume that it is just clicking out on its own? Or should I look into it further?

Try cleaning the base valve out with something like wd40 -maybe the balls that click are abit gummed up.

Thanks Marcusgunby. I will give it a try.

Okay, after changing the fork seals and oil, I can definetly tell that that compression screw is loose. The other one has lots of tension and the loose one turns pretty easy, but it still clicks and it still bottoms out and every thing. How do I tighten it up or whatever I have to do to get the tension back in?
