Young Guns Take Perry Mountian

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Local legends were either out injured or broken down, and the young guns picked up the slack. AA rider Chad Earl destroyed his transmission after a great start and early lead, and the likes of Eric Elam and Taylor Reynolds filled the vets shoes. Lots of good riding today.

Posted by: GasGasSmoker---------------------

How did that Factory Suzuki rider that goes by the name of Barfoot handle the hot, dusty conditions today did he overcome them with the points lead over the POWERFUL Team Green, Chevy Trucks, Factory Kawasaki that goes by the #612 and the name Frank or did he get SMOKED

Posted by: 612---------------------

Well, I wouldn't say he got smoked, but he didn't trophy. I think he finished 6th. The guy who won his class would have gotten 3rd in 200 A. The 612 bike was probably drooling at the mouth to be in action. The KX is ready!

Posted by: GasGasSmoker---------------------

What about Chad Earl what kind of luck was that to be in the lead and the KX let him down

Posted by: 612---------------------

I truly thought the KX was ready today. I might have expected the clutch to go or even the engine to blow, but to destroy the transmission, I would not have ever guessed that. Do you think Earl will get another bike, rebuild, or retire? He may be thinking of another manufacterer. He's had more than his fair share of bad luck with the Kawy.

Posted by: Roughrider---------------------

If I were Classic, I would apologize to my bike everytime that I mounted it, and it wouldn't let him down so much. There is nothing wrong with the bike, it is simply rebelling!

Posted by: 612---------------------

Come on now, there is no way a person could tear up that much. It has to be the bike!

Posted by: Roughrider---------------------

No way man, I have not torn up my bike that much in 20yrs. The throttle goes both ways!

Posted by: 612---------------------

Roughrider,

What about Classic Earls' protege. He seems to "ride hard", but his Katoom holds up for him. Now I know that you are a KTM man. Do you think this would be the answer to Earls' woes?

Posted by: Roughrider---------------------

I believe that it is

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

612: what class are you refering to??? nevermind....i found it.

Posted by: 612---------------------

KTM RACER:

How did you do? You never answered if you were the guy that Chad and myself met this past winter. Are you?

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

i did meet you and chad that day.....btw i was the guy that would have placed 3rd in 200a

will

Posted by: 612---------------------

Good deal! My buddy rode in your class and he was all ticked off because you lit it up. I guessed it might have been you. Good ride. How have you done in the other hare scrambles? Sounds like you may be in for a helmet!

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

does your buddy happen to be steven barber?? if so....yeah, he was pissed. sixth harescramble in the past 3 years (4 setra, 2 sera) just started the sera series. finished 6th at the tri-sanction, so i really didn't feel like i was sandbagging.

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

actually steven really pissed me off. it was my first win EVER, and it kind of put a damper on the whole deal. and to be honest, i just makes me want to stay in 200c and try even harder. know what i mean???

Posted by: 612---------------------

No, the guy I am talking about is Austin Barfoot. He rides an RM 125. He was pissed, also, but I told him he was just gonna have to tighten up if he wanted to get the gold. Do you recall the 711 Yamaha that overalled yesterday. He hasn't ridden in two years, and started back 2 months ago getting in shape. Taking a 125 to the top in that type of race is huge!

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

oh, i was talking about the guy that finished second. i had no idea someone else was pissed. ah yellow rm125, duct tape #1's on the number plates

Posted by: 612---------------------

Thats the guy. He had the duct tape via his last motocross expierience. He's just getting started this year(well, the end of last year). He had not even kicked his bike in two month's. Hey, from what I've seen in the past, everybody has to get their start somewhere, and if this is your first 200 C win, I'd let it all out and try to win the class. The only thing that would concern me would be wanting to ride with higher caliper riders to improve yourself. In that case, just catch the B and A class and roll with them, and then next year bump up!

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

thats the plan. i will move up next year regardless if i win or come in tenth. I have a couple of guys that are a good bit faster than i am to practice with. So, i am usually getting smoked when i go out to play ride. But i hate to break it to the 200c guys.....next year isn't gonna be any easier. i have a buddy that just started riding about 8 months ago and is getting faster every weekend.

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

also, everything just clicked yesterday. holeshot, never fell, stalled once, didn't have to stop for gas, ect..

Posted by: 612---------------------

That makes the difference! I just wish we could have gotten Chad's bike to hold up. I think it is time to see the dealer.

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

i saw him on the side of the trail on the first lap. i was like damn, that sucks because i would like to see him win one. btw why do you guys call him"clutchless chad"

Posted by: 612---------------------

Well, it is kind of self explanatory. Chad seems to go through clutch plates as if they were fine china in the engine. He just rides hard, real hard.

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

612: are you riding this weekend?? I might be making it up that way on sunday.

Posted by: 612---------------------

KTMRACER:
I went down in Hattiesburg in the enduro on Sunday. I destroyed my ACL, LCL, PCL, broke the plateau of my tibia and fibula, and suffered some pretty nasty nerve damage. I had major surgery @ Healthsouth in Birmingham. It wil be 10 weeks post op next week. I almost lost the old leg, but I'm recovering pretty good. If you want a lot of detail on this, look under the injury section and my thread is SEVERE KNEE INJURY.

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

612: whoa man, sorry to hear that. i will take that as a no!! well, when you get healed up give me a call (or a pm) and we can hit it up.

will

Posted by: 612---------------------

You got it! I see my doctor next week. I am going to ask him how long will it be before I can at least ride light trail or something.

Posted by: GasGasSmoker---------------------

Hey 612,
Was that RM 125 clean at the Perry Moutian or what

Posted by: 612---------------------

I went by his house today, and believe it or not, it was cleaner! I won't call it 'clean' yet!

Posted by: GasGasSmoker---------------------

Hey ktmracer,

Just tell them that you would not have won the 200 B class

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

the main point i tried to make was that i finish sixth in the tri-sanction, which was my first sera race in 2 years. So, i felt that i was in the correct class. and you are right about me not winning 200b, good god!!!!!!!!! you know that kid is still legal for junior class.

Posted by: 612---------------------

KTM Racer:
You were replying to that kid! Just thought I'd let you know~~~~

Posted by: KDXfile---------------------

With all these alias's it's hard to figure out who's who. I know kawy and Chad.
Is GasGasSmoker's initials T.R.?

Posted by: 612---------------------

You nailed it!

Posted by: ktmracer---------------------

yeah i figured that out after reading some other threads.....
