Enduro scoring questions

I've participated in 3 enduros so far, but I still don't know how to read the scoresheet. I've picked three numbers (checks) at random -
1:0038
4:0232
7:0394
The first number I read as being 1 min. 38 secs late, but the last two numbers have hundreds in the secs digits. Is this because of the tie breaker checks?
The way I understand it, you "0" a tie breaker check by being exactly 30 seconds into your minute. Does this mean that arriving 25 seconds into your minute is the same score as arriving 35 seconds into your minute (at tie breaker checks)?
I'm so confused.

1st number you are correct the rest are the number on minutes late or early plus the total number of seconds from the minute you are due on, so if your supposed to arrive at 1:30 and you arrive at 5:30 you are 4 minutes late plus 4x60 seconds which is 240 seconds score would read 4.0240. Yes arriving at 25 seconds is basically the same as arriving at 35 seconds in that both are 5 seconds from zero and would be the same score if you arrived on your minute and at 30 seconds. If you use the example above if you arrived at 5:25 your seconds would be 5 less at 4.0235

So are you saying that with the above scenario, at minute 7 he would be 394 seconds late? Another way of saying what I 'think' I said is that if at minute 7, he had gotten there 394 seconds earlier he would have been on time? I realize this is just an example btw
The example with 4 plus 4 x 60 confuses me since none of his examples are multiples of 60?

rider due at 1:30
rider arrives at
1:25= 0.0005
1:30 = 0.0000
1:35 = 0.0005
1:45 = 0.0015
2:00 = 1.0030
2:30 = 1.0060 1 minute late 60 seconds late
3:00 = 2.0090
3:30 = 2.0120 2 minutes late 120 seconds late
and so on, minutes are figured off your due minute and the seconds are figured off the 30 second mark of the minute you are due on, so you add all the seconds up from that point. In the example the rider that arrived at 5:30 is exactly 4 minutes behind he arrivial time so it would be 4 x 60 = 240 seconds

Thanks AKC. That clears things up.
1:0038
4:0232
7:0394
In my first example I'm actually 38 seconds late, but it counts as 1 full minute. In my last example I'm 6 minutes and 34 seconds late, but scored in full minutes, it's 7 minutes.
If there were only three checks in this mock enduro (these are partial scores taken from an actual results sheet), I would first add my full minutes and then add my tie breaker score separately, resulting in a final score of 12:0664.
Now if I could only stop messing up on the hillclimbs.....

Your a 1 minute and 38 seconds late. Your riding on minute 1, at the emergency check you supposed to arrive at 1:30, in your example you arrived on 2:08 = 1 minute late plus 38 seconds after after the 30 second mark of the minute your supposed to arrive on. In our endurs the tie breakers are only taken into account if there is a tie on the minutes.

Understood. In two of the events I've been in, evey check was a tie breaker.
In your example, if I had arrived at 1:59, then my score would have been 0:0029.

No, they were local enduro club events (TWMC) where the rules are made up as they go along. For the next event, they plan to ignore the "three mile minimum between checks" rule (just as an experiment). And just when I caught on to that concept.
