KTM/Suzuki seal swap

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: zilla---------------------

I have a 98 380 EXC. Seems the forks leak constantly.. I am going to rebuild them soon, new bushings/seals etc.. A friend of mine recently told me of a thread he read here where someone replaced the KTM seals with Suzuki seals. It required a small part of the fork to be machined/removed.. Anyone have the details, part #'s or inside scoop? Thanx

Not sure about machining but you can use the seals/dust seals from a 1996 rm 125.These do cause a little stiction. The later WP seals were better -i think they were blue instead of red but i might be wrong.

I think the machining is on the newer WP 43mm inverts to use a seal from a KYB 43mm fork. I think it is in an article in one of the current mags.

tighten the seal tension springs and you should have no more problems.
remove 5mm from the new ones before putting them in.
