Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum...was at jackfrost mountain, pa. last weekend...had a great time riding my 1997 Honda CR80R...kept up with the novice 125's hehe...but my question is...is it best to set all the suspension setts (rebound, dampening etc etc.) and set it using baby steps until u get it to your likings? Because right now the front feels fine but the rear kicks up over jumps...plus i only weigh 106 pounds...so really how soft is good? i dont want to get it nice and soft but have it bottoming out on me...Everything's stock by the way
The previous owner claimed to have put all aftermarket stuff on it but when i got it home and rode it, it had no compression...needed new piston and rings and it also needed new air box because it wouldn't stay idling for more than 5 seconds without dying...

it needed new airbox because he cut majority of it out for some reason...and 1 more question i just remembered...with the stock pipe it gets great mid and top compression (once it kicks in i'm wheelying whether i like to or not  ) but low end wise i have to put it in low gear around turns... (1st and 2nd depending on turn) and the low end isn't that great...what pipe is good for my bike?...

Anyone?...

Download the tuning manual at the bottom of the page, it should give you the basics to get your ride straight. http://www.mx-tech.com/downloads.asp
As for the pipe thing, you might be better in another forum, but 80's have nutoriously little bottom end...rev it and use the clutch!

Try dialing in more rebound damping on the rear. You should take the other questions to the YZ/RM/KX/CR forum.
Good Luck,
Scott

ok, thx guys...i would love to go the extra distance and get the new CR85RB expert model hehe...but certain 80's do get good bottom end JJT...when i was at jackfrost mountain last weekend there was a kid on one there...i kept up with em only for the simple reason i was a better jumper and had faster speeds on straights...but off the turns he was just gone...

he was on a RM85...argh im always forgetting stuff

it might seem he had more bottom end but he was probaly better at clutching and cornering. you might as well forget getting bottom power out of a 80 you have to rev the crap out of them to go anywere

thx again guys...he might have...I didn't have enough time to see because when he got in front of me i was mid pack with about 15 novice 125 riders lol...too much roost in my way
