okay I am looking to sell my current ride, a 2001 400ex, and getting a dirtbike. I am about 6ft. and 220 lbs. and I was wondering if you all thought that a yz250 would fit me. also could I jump it and would it haul me around in sand etc?

I own an 01 YZ250. I like it very much. It has very strong low end and revs quickly to a white knuckle top end. I do not race, but ride MX tracks and woods. The power is always there, even when crawling up a steep hill. It does have a 50tooth rear sprocket and that helps in the woods. The power can be a little abrupt in certain woods type riding, but slipping the clutch some helps. I am 6ft 185lb. Plenty of power, but it is slightly cramped. nothing different bars and/or taller seat wouldn't fix. I bought the bike used and it already had suspension work done. great suspension! I spend 1/3 to 1/2 my time riding on 1 wheel

The cramped position was solved with pro-tapers and the adapters that raised the bars about a 1/2". Big improvement, much more comfortable especially when standing. The seat foam is next.
