2002 CR250 or CRF450?

Has anyone bought a CRF450 then switched to a CR250 or vice versa? Does anyone out there owned both bikes long enough to offer a long term comparision? Thanks, I'm still trying to decide.

I lusted after the CRF ro a long time waiting for HOnda to bring it out. I rode the stock ones back to back and decided that I would go back to 2-strokes. I felt that the 250 handled better and fit me better. I sometines miss the verstility of the thumper power, but mostly I dig my new ride. My bro-in law got the CRF and he loves his as much as I love mine. As far as things we felt we had to do to each to make em better, I put a pipe, silencer and milled the head, He put a pipe and got new triple clamps. I might be more impressed with the 450 after I ride his next weekend w/ the new clamps.

Thanks, Beef706 - that were my concerns about the crf being a bit top heavy for SX type riding, also tiring the rider out more than the cr250

I got a brief ride on the MX track this weekend on the 250 it was mostly stock expect a procircuit pipe/silencer. I can't really comment on it cause I haven't ridden a 250 in a long time. Compared to the last 250 I rode and my 125 it was really smooth the bike felt hitless ? it was just really smooth for a 250. I like the new frame it felt better than my '01 CR's what I really liked about the bike was the suspension. I'm far from the target weight of a 250 rider but even my light self really liked it and I liked it even more than my revalved YZ's suspenion. Its also really light feeling for a 250 If I was going to get a 250 I'd definetly buy the CR I gotta get him to let me ride it again. BTW this was after riding all day so by the time I got to ride the bike I was dead tired. I was having so much fun on the 250 when i stopped riding I almost passed out from exhaustion.
